The system is installed on the east façade of the building housing the headquarters of Autobrennero S.p.A.
The PV installation extends inside the building’s facade, in the structural gap between the two skins.
PV panels
The PV panels are Würth Solar CIS (Copper Indium Selenium) units of 1175x600x(3+5)mm. These are installed at the level of the floors, and are secured on three sides by metal profiles, with silicon sealant along the fourth edge. Each PV cell on the façade is made up of two panels. The cells have slots in them to prevent the temperature in the gap between the panels and the insulation from becoming excessive. According to the guidelines of the Italian electricity agency given in “A guide to building integrated photovoltaic systems”, the installation is classed as fully integrated and therefore enjoys the full subsidy for the power produced.
The photovoltaic panels are divided into 16 strings, with 8 panels per string.
Inverters
The inverters are Würth Solergy A2000 (Pnom 1.8 kWp) and A3000 (Pnom 2.5 kWp) units.
