Structure

Roof system

The photovoltaic panels are arranged to follow the shape of the building, at varying azimuths. Tilt to the horizontal is 30°.

Peak power from the 174 monocrystalline silicon panels is 220 Wp each, giving a total of 38.280 kWp.Struttura impianto di copertura

The roof installations on both towers are divided into three sections, each set at different azimuths. Each roof section is divided into two strings, one of 14 and one of 15 panels.

Façade system

Tilt is 90°, while azimuth is either -29° east or 12° west. Total power is 22.95 kWp for the low tower and 57.375 kWp for the high tower. The east façade is divided into 45 strings, each comprising 17 PV panels. The west façade is divided into 18 strings, each comprising 17 PV panels.

System components

PV panels

The 1071 Würth CIS photovoltaic panels installed on the facades are 1.20 x 0.60 m in size and produce 75 W each. These panels are equipped with an aluminium frame and slotted brackets to secure them to the steel structure of the building, comprising vertical pillars 1225 mm intervals.  Each string is made up of 17 panels and terminates in parallel wired control boxes containing fuses, dischargers, monitoring electronics and current measurement shunts.

The 174 monocrystalline silicon PV modules on the roofs are 1.48 x 0.99 m in size and produce 220 W each. These panels are installed at a tilt of 30 ° to the horizontal on ballasted metal frames or suitably sized brackets.  The PV panels are connected in strings of 14 or 15 panels each.

Inverters

The PV panels on the façades of the emergency stairwells are connected to two centralised Würth Solergy X20 and X50 inverters of nominal power 2 kWp and 5 kWp respectively. These inverters are located in the central recess of floor -1.  The roof installation is connected to six 6 kWp inverters, installed near the PV panels themselves in order to minimise cabling.

The inverters optimise energy production on the basis of panel azimuth and location. Data loggers monitor the whole PV system, identify any malfunctions and notify service personnel if necessary.
