The important role of FAR Systems in the field of on-board communication networks is a consequence of exceptional technical know-how and extensive participation on international standardization committees.
The FAR Systems’ proposal in the area of diagnostics and networking is based on the IGW gateway device family, one of the first to gain international approval and now installed on thousands of rail cars, and on a set of communication controllers that allow the various on-board devices, made by different companies, to link to the train network.
The gateway range includes devices interfacing the WTB standard train network with several types of vehicle network: TCN, CANopen and Ethernet. The gateways can support several redundancy topologies, feature UIC mapping server and perform network diagnostics.
The well-structured platform of on-board networks allows all FAR Systems devices to be connected to and seen by the control systems. The dynamic link between the train and the ground server is supported by a complete set of communication services that ensure, depending on the infrastructure, real time availability of both on-board and ground information.
